Why did you choose this Dojo? "Because of the style of Jiu Jitsu taught here."	Why did you choose this Dojo? "The reason I chose this dojo is simple. My philosophy is that something isn't worth doing unless it is done right. This dojo believes in the old way of doing things, the classic traditional way. "I would tell them that this dojo is the real thing. Its not a watered down Tiger Shulman's type system. It's hard work and it takes dedication to train here, but like anything that is worth something it isn't easy. When you train here you leave class knowing and understanding not only the technique but why and how it works. You are also confident that if you should ever need to use anything that you learn you will be able to do it out of instinct."	What would you tell someone else who was looking for a Dojo? "Don't ever sacrifice reality and tradition for flash and nonsense."	What would you tell someone else who was looking for a Dojo? "Beware of money-oriented schools. Take time to research arts and schools. Speak with the Martial Artists and Students."
Describe your Sensei. "Sensei is a good and honest man who teaches like no one else."	Describe your Sensei. "Sensei firstly is amazing in his Martial Art abilities. His techniques are flawless and when he demonstrates the techniques you understand that this is truly an art form. His style of teaching is highly effective as is the system itself. When you see him in the dojo you can see that he has been trained for this from the time he was a child. You can understand that he is the best because he was trained by the best, his father. His devotion to this system and his students isn't just a job or hobby but a love."	Describe your Sensei. Why did you choose this Dojo? "I like that the System taught at this Dojo has not changed in over 40 years. Not some made-up style."	Why did you choose this Dojo? "This was the Art I wanted to study, and after talking to Sensei I felt very good about going to the Dojo."	Why did you choose this Dojo? "This Dojo is fair and honest and is considered the best."	Why did you choose this Dojo? "After watching about 5 minutes of a class in session, I knew this was something special. Sensei has an unbelievable reputation in the Martial Arts field. And anybody who knows anything about Martial Arts knows about the Siringano family. It is a true honor to be part of this system and people respect you for it.
What would you tell someone else who was looking for a Dojo? "If you want to learn a real style of Martial Arts with real lineage, in a Dojo with practically one-on-one teaching, this is the place."	What would you tell someone else who was looking for a Dojo? "Here, you learn how to protect yourself in real life."	What would you tell someone else who was looking for a Dojo? "This is one of the only Dojos where you earn everything you get without paying for rank, etc."	What would you tell someone else who was looking for a Dojo? If you are looking for traditional training under a Grand Master who is well respected for his skill and knowledge, you came to the right place. Being part of this system is an honor. Not everybody is accepted but the ones who are; are considered to be lucky and the best of the best.
Describe your Sensei. "He is a genuine Martial Artist. He is interested in all his students and is an excellent teacher, giving care and attention to all students, new and old."	Describe your Sensei. "He is a very good teacher and knows how to get the point of what he is teaching across so that you can understand how and when to use different techniques."	Describe your Sensei. "Very fair. And if you are a student of his, you are part of his family. He really has a love for his system and it shows. You have to experience it for yourself to really understand.

There are schools of Self-Defense that claim to be the best at this and that. They lure you in with fancy ads and TV commercials and guarantee you a Black Belt. They take your hard earned money up front. Hundreds of dollars. They make you sign a contract, and what are you getting for all this? ASSEMBLY LINE MARTIAL ARTS. They could care less if you learn properly or not.

Once you sign that contract, you're just another account number. Oh, you'll learn the basics, and lots of Katas (forms) (that are of absolutely no use in a combat situation) and you'll progress in rank, but its going to cost you. That's right. You PAY for your grading, you PAY for your tips, you PAY for your belts, you even PAY for your certificates. And as far as guaranteeing you a Black Belt, well... lets be realistic.

Sound familiar? It should because that's how many schools of Self Defense operate. And that, is NOT tradition.

For many years, the Staten Island Jiu Jitsu & Karate Dojo did not advertise. We remained a dojo available only to an elite selection of individuals, all of whom had to be referred to us by a current student. We teach in the TRADITIONAL Japanese manner. With emphasis on Discipline, Respect, Rigorous Training, and Positive Mental Attitude. You will learn techniques that will save your life, not a series of katas which may get you killed in combat.
